A few words about the causes of spring fatigue
Our organism needs about 4 weeks to adjust to the new season, so spring fatigue is a completely normal phenomenon. Basically, it can be said that the few hours of sunlight in winter allow the body to produce only a small amount of the activating and mood-lifting hormone serotonin, but all the more melatonin, the sleep-promoting hormone. In addition, the rising temperatures lead to a dilation of the vessels and thus to a drop in blood pressure: circulatory problems, weather sensitivity and irritability are the result! Not to mention the usually heavier winter diet, with our supply of vitamins and minerals sometimes falling a little behind.
Our tips against spring fatigue:
Fortunately, with a few simple tricks, each of us can quickly and effectively help fight and shorten the time of fatigue!
- Exercise: Regular physical activity helps improve mood and reduce fatigue. Just half an hour of exercise a day will provide you with new energy. And: take the stairs instead of the elevator or the bike instead of the car!
- Nutrition: A balanced diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables provides the body with sufficient nutrients and fills the energy stores.
- Sunlight: Daylight can help wake the body from hibernation. Try to spend more time outdoors and enjoy the sun. Every walk, no matter how short, gets you going and fresh oxygen into your body!
- Sleep: Sufficient sleep is important to combat fatigue. 7 to 8 hours of sleep daily is recommended. Try to go to bed and get up at the same time every night to get the body into a regular sleep rhythm.
- Drink enough water: dehydration can also cause fatigue, so it is important to drink enough water. A glass of sparkling mineral water has the same invigorating effect as a cup of coffee – which brings us to the next point:
- Reduce caffeine: While caffeine can provide temporary energy, too much caffeine can also cause fatigue and sleep disturbances. Reduce caffeine intake and drink more water or herbal teas instead.
- Stress reduction: stress can increase fatigue. Try to reduce stress through relaxation exercises such as yoga or meditation.
- Circulation: Get your circulation going: how about a visit to the sauna or alternating showers?
- Consciously find relaxation: Read a book, listen to music, meet friends or do something else that gives you pleasure!
- Harness the power of color: Banish the dark clothes to the closet! Rather choose bold colors and colorful parts, which is proven to lift the mood!
