7 tips for ski preparation . by Augarten Hotel Neustift

Deep snowy winter landscapes, powder snow and après ski! Let your gaze wander over the unique mountain panorama, make your first tracks in a fresh snow slope, breathe in the spicy mountain air and feel the tickle of the sun’s rays on your nose!
If the eagerly awaited winter vacation is just around the corner here in Neustift, a few organizational points join the anticipation.

We at Hotel Augarten, Berg Genuss Hotel Neustift, may assist you with a few valuable tips to make your preparations as stress-free as possible.

Ski Tip 1

Some important questions about ski equipment:

Check your equipment well in advance of your planned ski vacation: Would a ski service perhaps be necessary?
What is the condition of your skis? Is the coating intact?
Does the binding setting fit your current weight? Because if the binding is not adjusted correctly, the binding may release too early when skiing or too late in the event of a fall! This can lead to nasty accidents!
Check your ski boots – are the buckles and the sole okay?
Do both sticks have their plates?
If your skis, poles and boots are in good condition, you have already done a lot for your carefree skiing pleasure and your winter vacation with us at Hotel Neustift!

Ski Tip 2

Ski helmet and back protector:

For even more safety, we recommend a well-fitting helmet and a back protector. Get advice on size and fit from the professionals at a sports store. Our recommendation: a balaclava under the helmet increases the wearing comfort and protects on cold days!

Ski Tip 3

Your ski suit should be breathable and waterproof.

If it is not bought new, remember to impregnate it!
Warm waterproof gloves are a must when skiing! Thin under gloves under mittens are also very popular!
Breathable ski underwear and ski shirts provide good temperature balance and well-being! Do not forget a change of clothes!
When choosing your ski socks, consider the height of your ski boots – this way you can avoid unpleasant pressure points!

Ski Tip 4

Protect your eyes!

Sunglasses should have a high UV filter, the sun’s rays on the mountain should not be underestimated. To avoid watery eyes, glasses with side protection are popular!
When choosing ski goggles always pay attention to the fit! The foam of the goggles must necessarily fit the face. Therefore, try the goggles with your ski helmet! Ski goggles are offered with different colored lenses, so you can best adapt to the changing weather conditions.

Ski Tip 5

Even in winter the sun has power!

The skin of the face is sensitive – so use sunscreen with a high protection factor and cold protection on cold days. Also remember to use a greasy lip protector!

Ski Tip 6

Personal fitness

For even more fun and to reduce the risk of injury, prepare for your ski vacation with ski gymnastics and endurance training. A little fitness and strengthening of muscles and joints also prevents sore muscles. However, a tube of cooling sports gel, a bottle of rubbing alcohol and a few blister plasters in your luggage won’t hurt.

Ski Tip 7

Ski equipment rental

Are you planning to rent your equipment at the ski rental during your vacation in our Berg.Genuss Hotel Neustift? Thus, we recommend to contact us in advance and announce desired ski and pole length and boot size. Renting the equipment has some advantages – so you always ride a new best prepared ski model and have less luggage. However, take enough time to try on the shoes – late afternoon is suitable, because the feet expand during the day!
